The Battle

The Battle

UPC is organising the student competition The Battle in close cooperation with the Hogeschool van Amsterdam and the Hogeschool InHolland. The Battle intends to let students of both schools compete with each other on the development of an exciting and innovative TV format. This format should give us a glimpse of how TV will develop in the future. The two best teams will present their idea during the World IT congress WCIT in May 2010, where the audience will decide upon a winner. The winning team will be invited to perform at PICNIC as well.

The future of TV is still unknown, but it will be different from what we know today. For INHolland University this battle is a chance to develop and apply knowledge in this area. Actually there are only winners in this battle! Everyone involved will discover new insights, broaden their view on how we will consume media. The combination of theory and practice is a way of working in which INHolland has much experience within GNR8 Haarlem & Amsterdam (innovation labs).

The best way to predict the future, is to help shape it ourselves. Interactive media students from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam are trained to do just that. Mostly focusing on online concepts, this battle is a great opportunity to apply their creative knowledge on interaction, on the offline world. Combining exiting and new elements, online and offline, they will shape the future of interactive television and come up with innovating and inspiring concepts.
