About Mr. Dirk Groten

Dirk Groten is CTO of Layar, a startup company founded in 2009 and currently growing fast to become the leading platform for Augmented Reality on the mobile phone. Dirk was responsible for turning Layar into a platform with open APIs, enabling thousands of developers to provide their content for the Layar Reality Browser.

Prior to joining Layar, Dirk was involved with many pioneering projects in the mobile internet industry, like chairing the Push standardization in OMA, the launch of i-mode services by KPN in 2002, implementing mobile content delivery for Talpa (a Dutch broadcasting network) or prototyping mobile trading of energy for Nuon.

Dirk attended the ETH Zürich and defended his PhD thesis at Leiden University.
