Challenge: a balance between security & safety

    Forum
    14:00 - 15:30 hrs.

In tomorrow's world, safety standards will demand that we ensure the best possible protection, while allowing maximum personal freedom, and that we secure a sound infrastructure. Safety solutions should enable an efficient, secure flow of people, goods, vehicles, capital and information. The drivers are megatrends such as urbanization, demographic change, ecological change and globalization. For the first time in human history, more people are living in cities than in rural areas. Safety and security come second as factors contributing to the competitiveness of a city (city rankings). Major terrorist attacks like 9/11 and the London and Madrid bombings are on everybody's mind.
